“My son was in the Greenville County school district from K4 to 2nd grade. He came to Powdersville Elementary School last year. It was hard for him at first because the schools standards are much higher than the schools that he was previously in. Last year he was offered free after school tutoring which really helped him a lot. The curriculum at PES is complimented by Mr. Moore, and the other teachers style of teaching. The field trips are awesome. The principal, guidance counselor, receptionist, school nurse, librarian and teachers are caring and willing to help my son at any time. My sons self image and self confidence is steadily rising. I am more thankful to the staff of PES than I could ever say. I would never consider moving my son to another school. Thank you!”

“I find Powdersville Elementary to be a kid friendly/parent friendly school. I always feel welcome when I drop in with no notice. I enjoy helping with the school activities and find that the teachers and prinicipal are all interested in my son as an individual. I would highly recommend this school.”

“Powdersville Elementary school would be a better school if they had better leadership ! The Principal doesnt seem to care at all about the students. She seems to want the title without the work. I have had children in the school for the past three years and overall the teachers seem to be well qualified. My only complaint with them is the amount of homework. It takes my forth grader 3 hours to get his work done . whatever happened to teaching the fundamentals ! The students are overwhelmed and put under alot of pressure to make the school look good.”

“We are not at all impressed with this school. We had given it every opportunity and pulled out to homeschool. The principal is less than helpful and communicative. She does not seem to care for involvement with the kids other than for disciplinary measures, and seems to resent parental involvement in 'her' school. With few exceptions, teachers here do not venture outside of the 'cookie cutter' curriculum. As a typical example, our child once asked for more spelling words and was refused. The explanation was that if the teacher gave him more spelling words, she would also have to give all the other children more spelling words. We have received sticky notes instead of conferences. We do not recommend this school.”

“This school leaves a lot to be desired. My son has been there since third grade and needs more advanced classes. They have a Launch program that is supposed to be for the more gifted children but they don't get advanced math, english or science like you would think they learn about Japan and architecture. I feel this should be taught to all kids. An average student can grasp these concepts just like an above average student. The principal is not very helpful either. My son had problems getting bullied on the bus and she told me he probably deserved it! She does not communicate well to the parents, therefore there is not a big parent involvement like we have seen at other schools”
